πŸ–οΈ 15+ BEACHES & CLUBS

Hurghada Beaches & Beach Clubs

Not all beaches are created equal. Here's which ones are actually worth your time.

The Beach Situation, Honestly

Here's the thing about Hurghada beaches: the best ones are attached to resorts. That's just reality. BUT β€” there are public beaches, day passes, and beach clubs that give you access without booking a whole vacation. The Red Sea water here is ridiculous (like, impossibly turquoise), and the coastline stretches 40km, so there's space for everyone. Check my weather guide to pick the best time.

🌊 Public Beaches

Free Access

Hurghada Public Beach (El Dahar)

The main public beach in downtown. Look, it's not fancy, but it's free and the water's the same Red Sea everyone else is swimming in. Gets BUSY on weekends with local families β€” fun atmosphere but not the quietest. Basic facilities, bring your own snacks.

🏨 Hotel Resort Beaches

πŸš— Worth the Drive (El Gouna & Soma Bay)

Sometimes you just need to get out of the city bubble. These spots are a bit of a trek (check my transport guide for prices), but honestly? Totally worth it for the vibe alone.

El Gouna (North)

Moods Beach Club / Zeytouna

Distance: ~25km North.
El Gouna isn't just a beach; it's a mood. Think Ibiza but chill. Moods Beach Club at the Marina is where the cool kids go β€” great music, cocktails, very European. Zeytouna Beach is on its own island (accessible by boat taxi). The water is shallow, the sand is perfect.

🍹 Top-tier cocktails
🚀 Boat access (Zeytouna)
πŸ„ Kite surfing schools
🎢 DJ sets
πŸ’° Cost: Entry ~€15-25 (often includes credit for food/drink).
Soma Bay (South)

The Breakers / Soma Bay Peninsula

Distance: ~45km South.
This is the kite surfing capital. It's windy (good kind), empty, and stunning. You can get day passes to places like The Breakers. It feels disconnected from the world in the best possible way. The reef at the end of the jetty? Insane.

πŸ„ World-class kite surf
🀿 incredible house reef
🧘 Yoga decks
πŸ› Thalasso spa nearby
πŸ’° Cost: Day use ~€30-50 (usually includes lunch). Transport costs more (~€30 each way via Uber).

πŸ’‘ Things I Learned the Hard Way

🌞 Timing is Everything

Early morning (7-10am) is magic. Calm water, empty beaches. By 2-3pm, wind picks up and it gets choppy. Thursday/Friday = local weekend = packed. More timing tips in my practical info guide.

🧴 Sun Protection

The Red Sea sun is BRUTAL. I have the sunburn stories to prove it. SPF 50+, reapply constantly, and get a UV shirt for snorkeling unless you want a lobster back. Reef-safe sunscreen please β€” the corals will thank you.

πŸ‘™ What to Wear

Resort/club beaches: swimwear is fine. Public beaches: cover-ups when not in water are appreciated (Egypt is conservative). Basically, read the room.

🐠 Coral + Feet

Water shoes are not optional at rocky/coral beaches. I've seen people limp back to hotels. Don't touch the coral (it kills it), keep fins off the bottom. My diving guide covers reef etiquette in detail.
