π€Ώ One of Egypt's Best House Reefs!
Iberotel Makadi Beach sits on Western Makadi Bay - known for the best corals in the area. Snorkel straight from the beach to healthy coral reefs 100-200m out. Expect parrotfish, butterflyfish, lionfish, moray eels, spotted eagle rays, and even octopus! Seagrass meadows with stingrays closer to shore.

π³πΎββοΈ Salem's Honest Verdict
Iberotel Makadi Beach is my top recommendation for serious snorkelers! The Western Makadi Bay location means you're at one of the best reef spots in the Hurghada region. The corals are genuinely healthy - finger coral, fire coral, brain coral, branching coral, and sea anemones with clownfish!
Just step off the beach and you're snorkeling. Maps are sometimes available on the beach showing the best spots. The underwater world is spectacular - I've seen eagle rays, moray eels, and schools of colorful fish.
The resort itself has beautiful gardens, relaxing pools, and friendly staff. Food quality is good.
Be aware: WiFi can be unreliable. Key cards are older technology.
Best for: Snorkeling enthusiasts, marine life lovers, photographers seeking underwater shots, couples wanting peaceful reef access.
π‘οΈ Salem's Important Tip for Snorkelers
If you're planning serious snorkeling or diving, travel insurance is essential. The Red Sea has currents and marine life that can sometimes cause issues. Good travel insurance covers:
- Emergency medical evacuation
- Diving/snorkeling accidents
- Lost equipment
- Trip cancellation
π Get travel insurance before your trip - peace of mind costs very little.
