The Quick Verdict
BUT: If you are a light sleeper or expect 5-star luxury for β¬40, you will be miserable. It is loud, it is busy, and it is old.
β The Good
- Right on Sheraton Road (KFC, McD, Shops everywhere)
- Private sandy beach (rare for downtown)
- Surprisingly decent water slides
- Very, very cheap
β The Bad
- Standard rooms are very dated
- Street noise goes on until 2 AM
- WiFi is basically non-existent in rooms
- Buffet gets chaotic
π Location: Chaos & Convenience
You literally step out of the reception onto Sheraton Road. This is the busiest street in Hurghada.
- Pros: You don't need taxis. Gomla Market (supermarket) is opposite. Pharmacies, cafes, shisha bars are all right there.
- Cons: Car horns. Music from shops. Touts selling tours. It never sleeps.
Tip: Ask for a room "Garden View" or "Sea View" to avoid the street noise. "City View" rooms are for heavy sleepers only.
ποΈ Rooms: The Upgrade Rule
Here is the secret to surviving Minamark:
DO NOT BOOK THE CHEAPEST ROOM.
The "Standard" rooms are trapped in 1999. Old carpets, noisy AC units, tiny TVs.
Pay the extra β¬10-15 per night for a Superior or Deluxe room. They have been renovated, have lighter furniture, and better bathrooms.
ποΈ Beach & Aqua Park
For a budget hotel in the city center, the facilities are shockingly good.
The Beach: It's small but sandy. No coral reef here (it's a sandy bay), so not great for snorkeling, but perfect for swimming. The water is calm.
Aqua Park: They squeezed in about 4-5 decent slides. Kids love it. Adults... well, after a few plastic-cup beers, adults love it too.
